Libby and her auntie at the lake Sunday.
We had a great time. The kids played in the kiddie pool for a while and then we all went out to fish, followed by a yummy pot-luck (a.k.a. b.y.o.f.) and a couple rounds of Music Scene It after we watched Ice Age. Both of our kids finally passed out around eleven thirty and we decided it was time to head home (mostly because we’re old and we don’t stay up late much either).
Sam really enjoyed fishing and wanted to go out even after it was dark. We’ll have to make another fishing trip soon.

Saturday the daycare carnival/fund raiser was a blast! I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I had hoped for lack of hands, but we did come away with two very nice bugs life characters. Both Samuel and Libby are very happy about those. The baby shower was lovely! Gina has some really great neighbors. I can’t wait until we find that for our family.

Once upon a time there were three little pigs. They were eating bread and their mother was drinking hot coffee.
The pigs are building their houses. The first pig built a grass home. The second pig built a stick house and the other one built a brick one. There was a bad wolf. He said “Little pig, little pig, let me come in.” The pigs said “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.” “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and i’ll blow your house in.” And he blowed the hay house down. The pig ran to the stick house and blowed the stick house. Then they went to the bricks house. The wolf couldn’t blow the bricks out but he blowed the bird out. He climbed up the chimney and he got hungry. The pigs said “Oh no, there he is!” and they kicked him. then the wolf said “What a fire!”. The wolf ran away and the little pigs opened the door and the bad wolf was gone behind the tree.

This was in Samuel’s portfolio for the year from Pre-K in the language arts section. His teacher said she wasn’t sure what to do for that part, so she gave each child a book and asked them to tell her the story. By looking at the pictures I assume since I figure that most four year olds still can’t read. I think he and his imagination did a fabulous job.
Today our daycare is having a carnival as a fund raiser so we should have some fun pictures to post later. And a friend of our family is having a baby shower. That along with doggy/kitty sitting, it’s going to be a full day.

Last weekend we packed up the bags, the kids and the kitchen sink and headed back up to Little Rock for the weekend. A dear friend of ours graduated from law school Saturday. YAY Angella! I have a few pictures. I took significantly less than I thought I would. Something about corralling two kids to keep you occupied. Sam took quite a few pictures during graduation (to keep him occupied) but I had to turn off the flash so we wouldn’t disturb, so they’re all blurry.

High Hopes

Our last day of pre-k was Friday. I am really sad to be losing such a great teacher and aid. They both have brought him so far this year, and even spoiled him a little. I had so much fun going over his portfolio with him. I’ll post later Sam’s version of The Three Little Pigs. This is a video of the first round of the last song they sang to us after lunch. After the 15 minute concert, my camera started to save the recorded performance and then told me that I didn’t have enough space. I knew I should have cleared off more pictures before going to school. It only cut off the last two minutes of the song, but Sam had just gotten into it. I’ll always remember the look on his face when all the mommies and daddies were clapping for the class. He’s had such a great time this year.

Mrs. Dorthy: “Sam, you’ve just graduated Pre-K, what are you going to do next?”
(trying to teach him to say he’s going to disney world - ug!)
Sam: “I’m going to Little Rock.”
The very girlie glasses with their girlie case

Me in my girlie glasses

Haircut not really showing that it’s been cut. Need new iron or something to make it flip out. I don’t understand why it will flip out when I don’t want it to, and won’t when I do.

Happy Mothers Day to Me!
my sweet family

And to all mothers who happen to read here, and all future mothers, it’s amazing! You’ll love it!
checking the blogs this morning I was almost a little disappointed that no one has updated until I noticed Lauren and Amanda&Jamie’s. These guys have lifted my spirits today. On my sister’s site there’s a story about my poor youngest nephew’s bad day yesterday, but picturing the part about the cat left me rolling. And Under the Laurel Tree we find a sweet little second cousin of mine counting to ten! Clara a month older than Libby, all I could think was “wow!”
I went to the optometrist yesterday and where my vision isn’t any better, it’s only so slight of a change for the worst that he said I didn’t have to pick out new glasses if I wanted to stick with what I had. I figure I’ll go for contacts when allergy season is over. My eyes would hate me if I got them now. So, I figured I would get new, and keep my older pair for a spare. Much to my surprise, I picked out some pretty girlie frames and got Transitions so that I wouldn’t have to find clip-ons that didn’t match, huge granny shades to go over, or just drive with out them and shades on (not good for anyone!). They come in, in about a week.
For some reason trying on frames in the store, looking into a mirror in public made me realize just how badly I needed a trim, cut, something, anything! So I have a hair appointment today.
Crawling into Libby’s bed this morning, she tried her best to get away from me, giggling and curling up as close to her pillow as she could. There was no getting away! I grabbed her little toes and started to wiggle them.
“this little piggy went to market… this little piggy stayed home… this little piggy had roast beef… this little piggy had none… and this little piggy went wee! wee! wee! all the way home”
*and from the next bed*
sam: (half asleep) “hey!”
me: “yes?”
sam: “apple tree”
me: “what?”
sam: “wee wee wee, apple tree”
Thanks to dora the explorer who’s ruined the nursery rhyme for my poor son. In this episode, the third piggy, from the three little piggies, is found hiding in an apple tree.
This is twice now he’s corrected me.
Why do my men have to be so technical? hehe

A welcome change from the Yearbook Picture
I can’t believe he only has two more weeks of school. Then Kindergarten Round-up!
His last day is a half day that I get to share with him. Summer Daycare starts Monday after.
He’s so much fun to be around. All the crazy things he says. His amazing imagination!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love being a mother?
