So what do we think?
Thanks for the idea Beth, I’m really happy with how these turned out.

Taking orders…
as of December 28th i was officially back to work and back to “normal.” and aside from a few changes that took place january 1st that no one told me about, everything has been running rather smoothly. PD and I have been figuring out morning schedules with getting kids and ourselves ready. And then there’s PD’s night classes that start on the 14th. i am happy though to say we’ll have him home more in the evenings this semester. he’s only taking two classes on campus and the rest will be internet courses so that will be nice to have the normality for the kids, but it will be hard to keep them out of his hair when needed.
i realize it’s been almost two months since i posted last. i’m not going to say it’s the baby that keeps me busy. i think it’s more of the needing to work while on “leave,” Christmas shopping, and the two other tornadoes that live in our home. but, as the dust is starting to settle, i think, well, i hope that i’ll be able to keep up more with writing and pictures. i was told yesterday by a friend who will remain nameless, amie!, that i needed to post more pictures of evelyn. so! i’ve been inspired to take more pictures! imagine that. and last night i snapped off some cute ones of the kiddos. but i’ll start with the one’s from two months ago…

Precious Memories

Sam’s Christmas List - Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, and a Black Spiderman outfit “see his angry eyes, and he has no mouth”

She picked out her clothes after bath last night. Boy pull-up because we couldn’t find girl “feel n learn” at the store (those things work so well!)

So much for clean towels - standing at the kitchen door with a wash cloth in hand “i get another baby…”
*side note: every towel has some sort of baby under it*

“I love you to take a picture of me with my ship on my head”

We got the original “my little pony” for her birthday. That’s the same one I had when i was little.

My little thumbalina

The baby we got her for Christmas, I am always drawn to the dark skin, brown hair, brown eye babies for her. She loves that it has a “pony”
A few minor adjustments to the costumes but this is what my kids were for Halloween.

Princess Presto and Super Why from the PBS kids show Super Why!.
Sam decided he wanted to be Super Why (with the power to read) so I went on a quest to find the costume. The best I could come up with was a super hero costume pattern and my wonderful mother-in-law agreed to put it together for us. In my search for a Libby costume I decided Princess Presto (with spelling power) would be easy enough. I got a cute princess dress from e-bay and some fabric to make a cape. Edna Mode would not be happy with us …. “no capes!”

He looks like a luchador to me

That wand is a weapon, I didn’t let her carry it much. “Presto!”

Showing off costumes to nana.

My kids and their local cousins at the church Fall Festival

my dear husband carves to order. Sam picked the spider, I picked the pirate ship.
I think they both turned out just beautiful!
My first parent event at the new daycare. The kids had a pumpkin patch picnic. The little ones got to go out and pick pumpkins. They let them play for a while until they started throwing the pumpkins around. For lunch, rather than setting them outside in the cold, they put out green paper on the floor and the kids got to sit and have a “picnic.”

the shirt says; “who needs a costume when you’re already a princess” I had to have it.

This afternoon Sam had a fall festival at school. Of course I didn’t get any pictures of this because there was just so much going on. Every kid in the school going from room to room playing games and getting candy and prizes. Sam had a blast. I really had a good time too, but we were both tired once it was all over.
I’m getting so excited about our upcoming trip to the beach. I just asked off for Friday and I was showing a co-worker the house. When I clicked on the virtual tour I was SOCKED. They remodeled! It’s even more beautiful than before. And I was happy with it before.
Just look!
Before and After
It doesn’t even look like the same house!
I am a little worried about the weather. It says thundershowers Friday morning and one on Saturday. Maybe it will just blow over. The temperatures look nice anyway.
Yeah Okay, it’s nine weeks and three days early but I’m SO excited about this! A month or so ago a friend and I were talking about going to the beach. Samuel has been begging (as much as a four year old can remember to beg about something he’s never done before) to go but my only problem was trying to find a time when PD would be out of school and not working. I finally decided on labor day weekend, birthday weekend. He said it shouldn’t be any trouble for him to take off, and I don’t think the world will end if my kindergartner misses a Friday. I think he only missed two days of school last year, and only one of those was for being sick. I don’t imagine this year will be much different.
So I’m taking my sweet little family to Gulf Shores! Why am I so very excited you may ask? I’m the normal amount of excited for the trip itself, but yesterday after I booked the house (really a side of a duplex) the company who rents out the properties called me and said that the house would not be one of their properties come mid August and asked if I wanted to cancel or find another place. I wasn’t quite grasping the thought of not getting to stay there yet. “so… what does this mean to me? you’re saying i can’t stay there?” and he said that he wouldn’t want to risk it with the other company taking the property. Yesterday I took this as someone else renting it, but this morning I think he just wanted to keep the business. I asked him if they had anything comparable, that I was looking for something as close to the beach as possible. He showed another to me. A little more expensive per night, so he first thought to give me a free night to make up for the cost, but then after he realized it was only for the weekend he decided to give it to me for the same price as the other. I’m so excited, the whole house to ourselves! right across the street from the beach! I can hardly wait!
I’ve been using a lot of exclamation points lately! hehe!
and in my email this morning… Lands’ End beach towels on sale! hehe it’s like they can read my mind.
I think this is going to be something that we do every summer.
… When you sign yourself in at daycare instead of your child.
“Yep, Libby, you go to work today. Mommy is going to stay here and play”
Happy Mothers Day to Me!

And to all mothers who happen to read here, and all future mothers, it’s amazing! You’ll love it!
